A small roastery where the horizon opens straight onto the sea. Seven to eight bean varieties are offered—from low-acidity blends that suit local tastes to roasts with a more distinctive character—along with takeout drinks and homemade baked goods. About 11 km from shimahaku, it is a great cycling destination. After the ride, sit on the bench out front with a coffee in hand and the sea before you.

Guide: Mizuno, TODAY IS THE DAY COFFEE ROASTERS
A Coffee in Hand, on a Terrace Surrounded by Trees
Every coffee shop on the island has its own character. Tucked into a hillside near Sakate Port, “moksha coffee stand” is the place I go when I feel like talking to someone. The people who gather here are always nice people. On the terrace surrounded by trees, conversation finds its way naturally to whoever happens to be there—there’s a comfort about the place. The coffee is great, of course, but the menu of bread and sweets changes from time to time, and that’s always something to look forward to.
